Low back pain is a common reason for absence from work and for seeking medical treatment. It can be uncomfortable and debilitating. Low back pain may be caused by over workout, prolonged sitting or lying down, uncomfortable sleeping and poorly fitting backpack. It can result from injury, activity and some medical conditions. Low back pain can affect people of any age, for different reasons. As people get older, the chance of developing low back pain increases, due to factors such as previous occupation and degenerative disk disease.

Sciatica(sciatic nerve pain) is usually caused when the herniated disk or bone spur in the spine compressing on the sciatic nerve. Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg. Typically, sciatica affects only one side of your body. Although the pain associated with sciatica can be severe, most cases resolve with non-operative treatments in a few weeks. Acupuncture by insertion of needles into specific points on the body to relieve pain is a common way to treat sciatica.

Neck pain may be caused by prolonged straining, uncomfortable sleeping, stress or wearing heavy necklaces. Neck muscles can be strained from poor posture — whether it's leaning over your computer or hunching over your workbench. Osteoarthritis also is a common cause of neck pain.

Tennis elbow occurs when tendons in the elbow are overloaded by repetitive movements of the wrist and arm. It is inflammation or, in some cases, microtearing of the tendons that join the forearm muscles on the outside of the elbow. Treatment includes rest, pain relievers, and physical therapy.

Knee pain may be the result of a ruptured ligament or torn cartilage. Other conditions — including arthritis, gout and infections — also may cause knee pain. Proper treatments and knee braces also can help relieve knee pain.

Shoulder pain’s most prevalent cause is rotator cuff tendinitis. This is a condition characterized by swollen tendons. Another common cause of shoulder pain is impingement syndrome where the rotator cuff gets caught between the acromion (part of the scapula that covers the ball) and humeral head (the ball portion of the humerus). Treatment will depend on the cause and severity of the shoulder pain. Some treatment options include physical or occupational therapy, a sling or shoulder immobilizer, or surgery.
